Big Day of Giving was a Success and THANK YOU cannot express the gratitude we feel!! You helped us surpass our goal of raising $50,000 on Big Day of Giving!  During this 24-hour giving event we received donations of $52,189!  We are beyond humbled and grateful for your generosity!  Thank you to all of our amazing donors who have made it possible for us to continue the life changing work we do to help people with disabilities find employment.

“I wasn’t sure what to think when my counselor at the Department of Rehabilitation suggested Dreamcatchers to me.  I was at a crossroads in my life in a number of ways, and COVID-19 was making things that much more difficult to move forward. Choosing Dreamcatchers and working with Ivanna Willis turned things around for me. I was eager to work, but wasn’t sure what direction I wanted to go in.  I had 20 years of experience in higher education, but the role in which I had previously been employed had changed significantly when COVID-19 struck.  That particular job did not appeal to me any longer and I didn’t really feel qualified or able to tackle what it had become.  Ivanna sat down with me, and we discussed my strengths and goals.  We reviewed and revamped my resume.  She introduced me to online job sites that I had never even heard of and sent me emails and text messages with information about in-person job fairs in my area.  Ivanna also took the time to show me the California State website and explained their application process.  She walked me through the various assessments/tests and numerous search features so that I could explore my options.  When I located something of interest, she assisted me with cover letters and framing out the statement of qualifications that are so often required as part of a state application packet.  

During this time period, I was still applying for positions through: Indeed, Monster, LinkedIn, HigherEd Jobs, Career Builder, Dice, iHireHR, as well as through the state of California’s website, CalCareers.  It took a few months, but the interviews started to finally come in.  Ivanna was supportive through all of it, providing me with tips and resources.  We even did a few mock interviews to help me overcome some of my growing anxiety. In the end, I had multiple job offers and I accepted one in January 2023!  I am so thankful for her support and expertise. I am not sure I would have had the patience, confidence, or perseverance to apply for my current position without her experience and encouragement, and so far, I absolutely love it!  It’s challenging, but rewarding, and I am looking forward to being there a long time.  Thank you, Ivanna and Dreamcatchers!
